For this role, volunteers are assigned to work on specific trails within one of the four parks and monuments. They monitor their trail to identify any safety hazards, ensure the trails are properly marked, and interact with visitors.
Volunteers work closely with the National Park Service’s Natural Resources staff to assist with removing invasive weeds in Arches and Canyonlands. These weeds may include ripgut brome, puncture vine, Russian thistle, tamarisk, and Russian olive.
The National Park Service occasionally conducts special events and coordinates opportunities for volunteers to participate in one-time project events where extra hands are needed.
